Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What made you become a therapist?

I grew up in Trenton, New Jersey during the Crack Epidemic. I can remember my neighborhood before crack destroyed it and what it was like after it was decimated. What stood out to me at a young age was the suffering of family members and others who were addicted to crack. I watched them deteriorate slowly. I was 10 years old. I was a sensitive kid. I decided then I wanted to be someone who could help people who were suffering.

  1. You look young. How long have you been a therapist?

I get that all the time! Looking young is awesome in most settings, not so much professionally. I’ve been in the field of mental health for 17 years. I’ve been a Psychotherapist since 2011.

  1. Are you a licensed therapist? What does having a license even mean?

Yes, I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Nevada & Texas. That means my clients can be assured I adhere to legal and professional ethics and expectations, which are monitored closely by both states. As a LCSW, I’m required to have additional training annually. I have extensive training, two degrees and 17 years experience, which qualify me as an expert in mental health.

  1. Do you accept insurance?

I accept the following EAP (Employee Assistance Program) plans: Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, (NV) Lyra (NV, TX), ESI (NV), and Interface (NV). I accept the following insurance plans: Health Plan of Nevada (HPN) AmBetter and Cigna. To pay out of pocket,  my rates are $100 for individuals & $150 for couples.

Because I’m a licensed mental health professional, I can only provide psychotherapy to clients who live in Nevada or Texas.

  1. I don’t live in Nevada or Texas. Can I still work with you?

Of course. However, I cannot provide psychotherapy services to you. I can work with you as a Relationship/Dating coach. I can also guide you in improving your self-esteem, establishing boundaries and improving communication skills. We can work together via video conferencing or telephone.
